The domestic day, domestic overnight and international visitor expenditure data presented is sourced from Tourism Research Australia (TRA). TRA compile their local government area and regional tourism profiles by applying base data from their International Visitor Survey (IVS) and National Visitor Survey (NVS).
The profile data derived from the IVS and NVS is based on a sample, rather than a census of tourism visitors in Australia and so is subject to sample error. The TRA local government area profiles present survey data which has been averaged over four years to December 2013 with a view to minimising the impact of variability in estimates from year to year.
