A large proportion of the City’s 19.36km2 area is public open space. Our City has a Mediterranean climate, and enjoys more hours of sunshine than any other capital city in the nation.

Most of Western Australia’s 2.58 million people live in the greater metropolitan area of Perth, of which the City of Perth is the nucleus. The number of people working within our City boundaries (according to the 2016 Census) was 149,475. The top three industries for the City of Perth workforce were: Professional, Scientific and Technical Services (17.7%), Public Administration and Safety (13.7%) and Health Care and Social Assistance (11.0%).
